GUARD YOUR HEART

GUARD YOUR HEART

I begin this article by quoting a text out of my favorite book; “as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Now let me give you a few minutes to chew on that.

While you’re still chewing on that, let me quickly tell you that your heart is the seat of everything that takes place in your life, be it good or bad, positive or negative, it has its source in your heart, so you need to guard your heart. You may have heard somewhere before or read somewhere before that you may not be able  to control what happens to you, but you can control how
you respond to it, how you handle it, that talks about your heart coming to play. .

So dear friend, be careful what you allow into your heart, because it is your heart that shapes your thoughts, and your thoughts will ultimately shape your life. Another beautiful quote from my favorite book says; “guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life”. A different translation says; ”Keep vigilant watch over your heart, that’s where life starts”. Your heart to a very large extent affects everything you do, so you need to shield it from all harm and all negativity, shield it from anything or anyone or any information that will make it weak and vulnerable.

Two reasons why you should Guard your heart

1.     It is the place where you find courage.

Mate, you win or lose in your heart. You can be defeated or be victorious in your heart before you go for that job interview, or before you make your appearance for that presentation, so your heart should be fortified, guard it, it should be a place of courage and confidence, and not a place of despair, desperation, or despondence. Be courageous in your heart, courage will make you forge ahead no matter what is happening. So you need to guard your heart because it is the place where you find courage.

2.     It is the place of expectation.

You believe with your heart, and you expect with your heart; your heart is the seat of your expectations. If you have a heart of faith, you will realize that you are bigger than where you are right now, you are more than this, where you are right now and what you have at the moment is not the sum total of all there is to you. You are more than this; you are more than the car you drive, you are more than the money in your bank account, you are more than the house you live in, you are more than the clothes you wear, YOU ARE MORE THAN THIS! The size of your heart determines the size of your dreams.

So guard your heart with all diligence as you begin to approach your future. I wish you Godspeed!
